Ping's G440 SFT driver for shot correction

Check out full reviews of 4 top new drivers below.

GOLF

For ClubTest, we enlisted the help of golfers with a wide range of handicaps to test all the best drivers for 2025 from the top manufacturers at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Ariz. In all, we tested 35 drivers from 10 companies. Amid the testing, a few models stood out in terms of shot correction.

What is shot correction? Certain game-improvement drivers are designed to help golfers who struggle with a one-way miss. Maybe you hit a ballooning slice on every drive, or you hook every tee shot into the trees. These drivers can help correct those issues without you having to change your swing. Draw-biased drivers help correct slices, will fade-biased drivers help prevent hooks. Below you’ll find our picks for the best drivers for shot correction.

BY CATEGORY: BEST DRIVERS FOR FORGIVENESS | BEST DRIVERS FOR SPEED | BEST DRIVERS FOR SLOWER SWING SPEEDS | BEST LOW SPIN DRIVERS

Ping G440 SFT

*Ping’s G440 SFT driver was awarded 2025 ClubTest Game Changer status for its outstanding performance in the best drivers for shot correction category.

PING G440 SFT Custom Driver

The G440 driver family (MAX, LST, SFT) is optimized to deliver more ball speed through multiple advancements, including PING’s deepest CG in a driver to date and a shallower, thinner face, while continuing to ensure the game-changing forgiveness expected from a PING driver. Golfers in need of slice-correction technology fit best in the G440 SFT (Straight Flight) option, which features a two-position (Draw and Draw+), adjustable 23-gram back weight. HIGHLY FORGIVING Lighter head weight allows for heavier back weight.  FASTER FACE  Shallow, thinner, face increases ball speed for more distance, higher launch.  SOUND DESIGN New shaping, carbon crown and internal ribs produce muted impact experience.  FREE-HOSEL DESIGN Saves weight to lower CG, increase forgiveness. Allows for more heel-side face flexing for consistent ball speed across face.

THE BASICS: The new Ping the G440 SFT (Straight Fit Technology) is a draw bias model and has two positions for the adjustable 23-gram back weight: draw and draw+. New in the G440 SFT is a 9-degree loft option, as Ping research has shown many new, athletic golfers with plenty of speed to create the launch conditions necessary for a 9-degree head, but need the slice correction technology of the SFT, which previously was only offered in a 10.5-degree option.

PLAYER TESTING TAKEAWAYS: “Super easy to launch, ball explodes off clubface. Buttery smooth feel. Effortless launch” – David Walde on the Ping G440 SFT driver

Callaway Elyte X

Callaway Elyte X Custom Driver

FEATURES & BENEFITS High Launch with Maximum Forgiveness             The Elyte X model is designed for players seeking maximum forgiveness and a high launch. The X model also features neutral and draw settings with an adjustable 13g weight. THE BASICS: For its high-launch and ultra-forgiveness model, Callaway is ditching the “Max” moniker for Elyte X, which Callaway VP of Product Strategy Jacob Davidson said is a nomenclature that will appeal to more golfers. The X still features a slight draw bias with a more upright standard lie angle (59˚) and can be accentuated with a perimeter weighting system with two settings (neutral and draw) with the same 13-gram weight.

PLAYER TESTING TAKEAWAYS: “Not a traditional look — unique. Instant pop off the clubface. Stellar. I need misses to be forgiven and this does the job. Superb distance with the speed I wanted, plus power and an explosive face. Results don’t lie! It’s an encouraging club and a favorite. If I could take this club home and play it tomorrow I would. It will intimidate my playing partners with its performance and distance I need off the tee. A fairway finder!” – Jerry Wenker (17.1-handicap) on the Callaway Elyte X driver

“Loved the overall feel and performance. Liked the look and weight. Just felt good. Like the design and double finishes. Misses were good with minimal distance loss. I gained 20 yards on solid hits! Weight look and sound made it a favorite.” – Anita Wallace (9.3-handicap) on the Callaway Elyte X driver

Cobra DS-Adapt Max-D

Cobra DS-Adapt Max-D Custom Driver

NEW FUTUREFIT33 ADJUSTABLE HOSEL The FutureFit33 system features 33 unique loft & lie settings to unlock more customization options than ever before. For the first time, loft & lie can be adjusted +/- 2 degrees independently from each other, allowing for more fine-tuned fitting customization. The innovative SMARTPAD design enables the face angle to remain square regardless of the setting. MORE EXTREME AERO DESIGN An improved aero shape features a higher crown peak, and a more streamlined shape with smoother curvatures for further drag reduction and maximized speed. SHAPED FOR SPEED AND FORGIVENESS A refined clubhead shape blends speed with forgiveness for an elevated look at address that inspires maximum confidence on the tee. NEW INTERNAL ADAPTIVE WEIGHTING SYSTEM The MAX-D model achieves maximum forgiveness with draw bias using an external heel weight and internal, heel-positioned weight pad to create the optimal combination of stability with maximum draw bias. LARGER H.O.T. FACE INSERT A larger forged face insert with H.O.T. face technology delivers improved face flex for more robust distance and ball speeds. MAX FORGIVENESS & DRAW-BIASED CONTROL A fixed heel weight position provides extreme forgiveness with maximum draw bias.

THE BASICS: Similar to the Cobra DS-Adapt Max-K, the Max-D is designed for forgiveness, but with a pronounced draw bias to help golfers counteract slices. Like the Max-K, it’s available in both women’s and junior models.

PLAYER TESTING TAKEAWAYS: “Nice weight, not too light or too heavy.” – Greg Caster (15.1-handicap) on the Cobra DS-Adapt Max-D driver

Mizuno ST-X 230

Mizuno ST-X 230 Custom Driver

A more rounded, deeper profile with weight located closer to the hosel – means slightly higher spinning and draw biased for the majority, but more workable for many elite players (especially in lower lofts). Natural drawers of the ball may find more ball speed from the ST-X. Boosted by the CORTECH Chamber to be faster from the face, spin less and deliver an incredible, solid sensation at impact.“The new ST-X 230 is a complex character. Although in the higher loft option it’s a higher flying draw-biased option, the 9.5 for many of our tour players was more workable and faster from the face. You really need to hit both models before making any judgements on which is likely to work best for you.” CHRIS VOSHALL CORTECH CHAMBER – THE MISSING PIECE Mizuno’s CORTECH Chamber encases a dense stainless steel weight with elastomeric TPU – taking stress from the clubface and creating an additional energy source. At the same time locating weight closer to the clubface to reduce spin rates. While contributing to a more solid, powerful sensation at impact. FORGED SAT 2041 BETA TI FACE More resilient than commonly used 6-4 Ti, with more complex multi-thickness design – made possible by Mizuno’s CORTECH Chamber. UNIFIED SOLE COMPOSITE Carbon sole plate now a single piece to allow weight to be pushed to the extremes for overall stability. WORKABLE / DRAW BIAS Weight located closer to the shaft axis can both encourage a more workable or draw biased outcome, dependent on the player. DEEPER PROFILE A more rounded look that sits a little taller. Aligns square in the neutral setting. QUICK SWITCH HOSEL 4 degrees of adjustability.
View Product

THE BASICS: The Mizuno ST-X offers a very unique profile based on its more rounded shape, and deeper face height compared to the ST-Z. By having a center of gravity closer to the hosel, the ST-X is both slightly draw-biased but also more workable for highly skilled players with better face control through the swing. For golfers with a natural tendency to play a draw, the ST-X offers great potential for extra distance thanks to its low spin design and center of gravity placement.

Srixon ZXi Max

Srixon ZXi Max driver

Srixon ZXi Max Driver

A single adjustable weight positioned low in the rear lets you customize swing weight and maximize the ZXi Max’s MOI benefits. A new 1.5-degree hosel sleeve allows precise adjustments to loft, lie, and face angle.
$549.99 from Fairway Jockey

THE BASICS: With the highest MOI of any Srixon driver yet, the ZXi Max is designed for maximum forgiveness and distance. Despite its forgiving nature, its shape and profile don’t scream “game improvement.” The clubhead includes a single removable weight in the rear, allowing golfers to adjust the swing weight without altering the intrinsically high MOI design. The ZXi Max is also available in a women’s model.
