Titleist Vokey .06K grind wedge.

Vokey is bringing one of the Tour's most popular lob wedges to the regular SM10 retail lineup.

Jack Hirsh/GOLF

One of the PGA Tour’s most popular grinds — the one Scottie Scheffler used for his famous 2022 Masters chip-in — will now be easier than ever to get your hands on.

The K grind has been a staple of the Vokey lineup for several years, boasting the widest sole of any grind in the lineup and 14 degrees of effective bounce, making it a wonderful option out of the sand or in soft turf conditions. But that extreme bounce wasn’t the friendliest on the firm conditions Tour pros are used to.

A few years ago, several pros approached the man himself, Bob Vokey, and tour rep Aaron Dill about creating a lower bounce version of the K grind to take advantage of the wide sole in firmer conditions.

“As a result of those requests, we crafted a K grind sole with 6 degrees of effective bounce, while maintaining the wide camber that makes the K grind design so helpful for a wide variety of players,” Vokey said. “As soon as we brought it out on tour, it was immediately accepted and in the bags of multiple players as soon as they had a chance to test it.”

Both Scheffler and Xander Schauffele used the low bounce K grind to win majors, and the grind has been available to consumers through the Vokey WedgeWorks program for the last several years.

But for the first time, Vokey is bringing the 6-degree low bounce K grind to the regular SM10 Vokey wedge lineup in both a 58-degree and 60-degree lob wedge. The new low bounce K will be available in retail stores, marking the 26th and 27th loft and bounce combinations in the retail SM10 lineup.

The new wedges also add a new low bounce offering to the regular lineup in addition to the four-degree bounce 58 and 60 T grind wedges.

“In the past few years, our in-line low bounce lob wedges have always had narrow, crescent-shaped soles,” said Corey Gerrard, Vokey’s director of marketing. “Whether it was L grind or T grind, for some players, those aren’t necessarily the most forgiving sole designs for a low bounce wedge. Adding the .06K allows us to give players — some of whom might fit somewhere between an .08M grind and an .04T grind — a low bounce wedge that still offers forgiveness, especially from the bunker.”

Vokey Design SM10 58.06K and 60.06K wedges will cost $189 and be available for pre-sale on Feb. 6 and arrive at retail on March 7.
